Philosophy
This is the personal web site of Biswadip Bose. This web site represents many of my professional and personal interests. All the Tutorialsb And Scripts you will find in my web site were all colleted from Different Web sites.

I was facing different types of problem when some different types of software . I Solved them by taking help from different news groups . So I Try To put those installation notes and tutorial to my web site .. I think all those will help you a little bit.

I am mainly working on linux and Freebsd Operation System. All Content of my site is under the GNU General Public License and its source code is freely available to everyone ..

One of my interests is the Linux operating system.
I have been running Linux as my primary OS for several years. It is a great operating system, well suited for use as an Internet mail or web server. What most people don't realize is that Linux has lots and lots of great applications.

I now use Linux as my everyday OS. It requires more knowledge and setup than Windows, but look at the benefits--

  • It is really and truly an open system.
  • It is supported in "real-time" on the 'net.
  • It supports more hardware than any OS I know of.
  • Source code is included
Linux is perfect for you if you want to set up a news or mail server at your business. Perhaps you want to set up a web server. The cost of the OS + the ability to run it on a variety of hardware + the great performance make it worth looking into.

If you enjoy new challenges. If you are tired of Windows crashing. If you want to be on the cutting edge. Give Linux a try. You'll be glad you did. If you need assistance, send me email. I have quite a bit of experience using Linux as well as developing code that runs under Linux.

Here are some Linux links to get you started:

Linux Docs
This is the place to start if you want information about Linux. It is the official Linux Documentation Project home page. You'll find lots of links, HOWTO's, and installation manuals.

Red Hat
The Red Hat Linux distribution is one of the easiest to install and use. The Red Hat Package Manager makes it a snap to maintain your system. Dependencies between files are included in the distribution package, making it almost impossible to install a program which can't work because you don't have another critical file on your system.

Debian
Some people prefer this distribution to the Red Hat one. Just remember that Caldera and Red Hat both use the Red Hat Package Manager (rpm) to distribute files. Debian uses the Debian Package Maintenance System(dpkg). After picking an approach, stick with it.

LyX Home
LyX is a great word processor. It is an X-based program that uses the power of LaTeX/TeX to give you great looking documents.

XFree
The home page for the X server and client programs you need for a graphical interface.

   :: Free Software ::

``Free software'' is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of ``free'' as in ``free speech,'' not as in ``free beer.''

Free software is a matter of the users' freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software. More precisely, it refers to four kinds of freedom, for the users of the software:

  • The freedom to run the program, for any purpose (freedom 0).
  • The freedom to study how the program works, and adapt it to your needs (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
  • The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor (freedom 2).
  • The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements to the public, so that the whole community benefits (freedom 3). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
